A Day on a Plate With… Asia Suler 

She is the creator & concoctress behind One Willow Apothecaries, a heartfelt business that offers handmade treasures and sacred herbal medicine. I am a creature of habit, so I tend to relish the same breakfast every morning. A large carafe of tulsi tea poured into loving tea-cupfuls at ten minute internals. Time taken while the tea steeps to sit in front of my altar and give gratitude for my life, existence, the small things of my day. Cozy socks and bird watching out the window. My journal, where I devour and discover my dreams from the night before. And two pasture eggs, over easy with gomasio and sauerkraut on the side.


Is usually eaten in the midst of writing, working, or busying myself on the computer. I like simply foods to accompany the whirlwind of my mid-day mind. I tend to like to eat fresh and small for lunch. Apples, salads, nuts.


…Is my main event, and something I like to carve out space for with good lightening and a well-thumbed book. Dinner is my time to ground after a busy day of thought, so I like to cook dishes with a wealth of butter, wild meats and root vegetables. I am normally full and content as a Buddha after such a meal.

Sweet Tooth?

I am a night owl by nature so sometimes desert becomes second dinner. Pancakes, chia pudding or golden turmeric milk. Other times I’m sated by a bit of sugared ginger or a deliciously bitter single square of chocolate. Whatever it is I’m eating I try to take time to savour. To remember its roots in sunshine, seed and soil and give gratitude for such abundance.
